As a type of duct tape, Gorilla tape claims to be three times stronger than the leading value brand. That’s important when you’ve got a project that requires long-lasting tape. View the full Staples selection of tapes. fasteners and adhesives and learn more about Gorilla duct tape below.

Benefits of Using Gorilla Tape

Gorilla tape has several features that make it stand out from other duct tape types. The tape's adhesive is double the usual thickness, allowing it to grip rough, rugged, and uneven surfaces firmly. An extra-tight weave provides strength and holding power. It’s even been tested and shown that it can hold up to 85 pounds. However, the unique cross-weave still lets users easily tear off sections as desired. Gorilla tape's water-resistant backing and adhesive makes it suitable for outdoor use, and it resists fading in direct light, which gives it a long lifespan when used outside. This duct tape is also engineered to handle high temperatures, so it can be used on machinery. Gorilla duct tape is designed to stick well to many surfaces for long periods of time in a variety of harsh environments and can withstand temperatures as high as 120 degrees and as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Types of Gorilla Tape

There are two types of duct tape from Gorilla. Clear tape is designed for smooth, non-porous surfaces and has water-resistant backing to keep objects dry, a double layer of adhesive for a strong hold, and perforated edges for easy tearing. It doesn't yellow when facing the elements and also protects the object beneath it from fading over time.

Colored duct tape has all of the same features but comes in different colors. There is the traditional silver, as well as black and white. The bright orange option is great to use as a marker for hunting or construction. Camo tape stays hidden when hunting, camping or backpacking.

There’s also an extra-wide tape option as well for heavy-duty jobs.

How to Use Gorilla Tape

Gorilla glue tape works best when applied to a clean and dry surface. Any dust or debris on the surface will inhibit its ability to fully adhere. Since the tape is quite strong, be sure of where and how you want to place the tape before applying it. Apply it carefully and smooth out any air pockets or rolls. Thanks to Gorilla tape's double-thick grip, it sticks well to metal, wood, stucco, plastic, brick, vinyl and stone. The strong adhesive will help repair broken screens, windows, shoes, leaky pipes, tires, hoses and furniture.

What Can Gorilla Duct Tape Be Used For?

Gorilla duct tape can be used for a variety of needs. Use it to make repairs to household items, or for outdoor needs like marking trees when hiking, fixing climbing ropes, repairing tents and more. Many campers and hikers throw it in their pack for emergency fixes to various camping tools while in the woods.
