Business Ethics

Our Corporate Responsibility

At Staples we strive to be a model of corporate governance and ethical business practices. We are committed to acting with integrity in everything we do and hold ourselves accountable for doing business honestly, ethically, and legally. Our commitment is reflected in our Code of Ethics, a single set of guiding principles for Staples’ associates around the world.

We understand the impact our actions can have on a wide range of stakeholders and believe that practicing sound business ethics makes a difference to our customers, associates, communities, business partners, and the environment.

We believe that our associates deserve a work environment that is safe, where individuals are respected and treated fairly and where diversity is embraced. We strive to work with suppliers that share our commitment, and created a Supplier Code of Conduct to help ensure that our suppliers’ behavior that is in line with our values.

Our commitment extends beyond the walls of our stores to our local communities and the environment. As a good corporate citizen, Staples is committed to protecting natural resources by offering recycled content products, implementing recycling initiatives, practicing energy conservation, and offering environmental education initiatives. We support our communities through groups such as the Staples Foundation for Learning. The Foundation, which works closely with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, seeks to provide job skills and educational opportunities for all people, especially disadvantaged youth.

At Staples, we have built a reputation for integrity by doing the right things to deliver results. We are proud of our reputation, and we are serious about ensuring all associates understand how to maintain it. Why? Simply put, doing business the “right” way is the right thing to do, and it’s good for our business.
