Reflecting the Face of Our Customers
Reflecting the face of our customer through diversity is a commitment deeply embedded in Staples’ corporate culture.
We are dedicated to providing a work environment of inclusion and acceptance, and look for associates who will also embrace these values.
To understand why diversity is so important to us, you don’t have to look farther than your nearest Staples store. Our customers—whether they’re shopping in our stores, online, or through Staples Contract or Business Delivery––are a mosaic of different cultures, ethnicities, genders, and ages. So it’s not surprising that we strive for a workforce and a supplier network that reflect the diverse multicultural “face” of our customers.
Staples has been quietly building a workforce of diverse and talented associates, developing a network of diverse suppliers, and supporting diversity in our communities through the Staples Foundation for Learning. In recognition of our achievement in this area, Diversity, Inc. magazine named Staples one of the Top Ten companies for recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce in 2004
We know there’s much to do, but the results are starting to show. Our recent focus on diverse college recruitment initiatives and partnerships with professional organizations has been highly successful. Our supplier diversity program was the first in the industry to build a network of established regional Minority Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) partners, which allows customers to purchase directly from and be billed by diversity suppliers. In our local communities, we support diversity through the Staples Foundation for Learning, which provides job skills and educational opportunities for people of all backgrounds, with a special emphasis on disadvantaged youth.
At Staples, we are proud of our commitment to diversity and the great strides we’ve made toward achieving it. Our success is as multi–faceted as our associates and customers.
